Please pop by and say Hi if you get a chance - I will be bringing some new products with me this time so stay tuned for more information. xx I am very excited to announce that I will be doing my first markets with the Craft Victoria Craft Hatch program as part of their annual Christmas Markets at 1000 Pound Bend!
I will be brining a selection of my new homewares range including 100% Linen Tea Towels, 100% Cotten Pillowcases, 100% Linen Cushions, Limited Edition embroidered artworks, Limited Edition Giclee Art Prints and blank Greeting Cards. The market will be on Saturday 17th December from 10am - 4pm at 1000 £ Bend, 361 Little Lonsdale St, Melbourne. I have two new prints available in my shop, 'Bush Posey' and 'Summer Bush Posey'. Limited Edition Giclee print of 100, each image is printed professionally with archival pigment inks onto 300gsm smooth, white acid-free art paper. 100% cotton rag, nil OBAs and a natural finish. Available in A3 for $80 and A4 for $50. xx I'm a bit slow going posting this news but at the end of last year I finally opened my online shop! I currently have two works for sale as original watercolours and also available in prints (A3 and A4).
For the next week until Sunday 10th January (12am EST) there will be 20% off storewide. Click through here for more information! Hello again Internet friends,
Well, it has been a very long time since I posted on this website and been creative for that matter. I have discovered that it takes me at least a 3 year cycle to get working again after having a baby and I am now running right on track with my second daughter about to turn 3! However, I have been tinkering away in the background working on some new ideas which I will share soon. The main thing that has been taking up my time though is updating my website after 4 years - who would have thought that could take up so much time. But I'm almost there - to have a look click through here. xx I'm a bit behind the eight ball on this one as the exhibition has ended but still wanted to share anyway. I recently made this softie of Roald Dahl's Matilda for an exhibition organised by my friends Sarah Day and Torsten Pfiel (Dirge) called EX LIBRIS, from the library of...
The show was held at Snug Gallery and was timed to correspond with International Literacy Day, and in conjunction with the exhbition was also a book sale to raise funds for Room to Read. I found the theme of books quite hard as there are so many choices but ended up going for a nostalgic angle! I loved Roald Dahl's books as a kid and feel like there might be more softies to come from this as I have just finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to my 5 year old. I definitely had a lot of fun making this one. Image on left by Rachel Pringle and on right my response to the work It has been a very long time since I popped my head back here. Having 2 kids definitely changed my time and energy in making art but I am hoping there is light at the end of the tunnel coming soon with that! Luckily for me my friend Demelza Sherwood helped me dip my toes back in with this great project she has curated called The Homemade Exchange. The premise of the project was to initially take an image from your domestic setting and send it to Demelza who then swapped all the images around and you were given one of the other artists works to respond to and make something inspired by it. This was very challenging but a great way to get working again and thinking of new ways of mark making for me. The photographic image I received was by artist Rachel Pringle. I'm really looking forward to seeing the other works especially what happened to my image. You can see the results here from the 1st August. The online exhibition will be part of the Craft Cubed festival as well. Below are a few details of the work I made which you can click on to see a larger image. The piece was made using silk, watercolour paints and polyester thread. Above is the photographic image I sent to Demelza.
I was recently lucky to have my work 'Mother and Child' included in the Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award. I would have loved to have gone along to the opening to check out all the works and to also attend the talks. The exhibition runs from the 1st June till the 14th July at the Wangaratta Gallery. It would be a lovely day trip to country Victoria if you felt the urge! In other news I made this mask for a project which didn't come to fruition but wanted to share as it is the first thing I have made since post pregnancy. It was a great challenge to push myself to actually sit down and start making again although I am not really sure what to do with it now! It may end up on my etsy shop or I already have a costume for Halloween this year.
